Default Symphony Blanking Plate

Next to the display on my Symphony radio there is a blanking plate. I got a spare blanking plate which has clips on the back of it. I intend to modify the new one and fit a Talex unit into it.

The problem is that I can't seem to shift the blanking plate on the radio unit. Does it need knocking out, or cutting out? I obviously don't want to damage anything.

Thanks,
Fifer

It should just unclip, just put a small screwdriver in the edge & gently lever it out.

Thank you, I'll give it another go in the morning.

Cheers,

Here is a picture of the back of the blanking plate.

You can see that it is sort of hooked in on one long edge and clipped in on the other long edge.

Judging by the lettering the clips should be at the top.

That is the same as the spare that I got.

I hope I am wrong, but really close up on the original it looks like one moulding.

PS. The Talex is a small GPS device that gives me a read-out of my current speed. It tells me when fixed and mobile cameras are coming up, and if my speed is over the limit it tells me to slow down.

It is legal.

I just knew I wouldn't be the only one

I had a feeling it was a gadget used for time keeping in rallying, but maybe I'm thinking of something else ?

It just sits in the car and is more accurate than the speedo. I download the database every week.

The blanking plate is a separate piece. The idea is that the Symphony could be fitted with the Low Line control pack.
