Cool Diecast models

For a number of years I have bought, built and modified diecast model cars, van's & trucks. Displayed or sold them on. The interest waned whilst I looked after my late wife.

But now the interest is back. But I have noticed a lot of the model shops have declined, especially those where I could by spare parts. I've been to a few Toy fairs but again parts are few & far between. I know I can buy a complete model and break for spares, now where have I heard that before.

I have surfed the net looking for parts, looked on the bay, gumtree etc. But spares are hard to find. I would prefer to go to a shop to buy but if anyone can give me some leads it would be much appreciated.

I'll put some pictures up of some of the work I have done in the past, and future work. 1st is Flying Banana, That will be an easy one. Then Redfive, I've got the paint but need the wheels. Then I'll have a go at a ZTT. I do have in kit form a MG ZR/Express in 1/43rd scale to be built and a Jaguar XJ220 in kit form, this is a whopping 1/12th scale.

The last model I built was a few years ago, for my father. He was in the Police, on the traffic cars out of Berwick in the late '60s-'70s. Its a Police Westminster patrol car modified from a black Westminster model, had to repaint to the original creamy white, some parts Police equipment were scratch built, others came from a donor model police car. Did quite a bit of research prior to building it, the reg number is from a Northumbria Police Westminster.

In the loft I have two plastic kits, a part built Airfix Norton Commando a mate gave me and an untouched large scale Peterbilt truck, often thought about getting the Peterbilt truck down.

there was a guy in Holland, through eBay, selling parts. but I can't find it at the minute on my phone. I think I found it (it was well over and year ago) searching for" 1/43 scale wheel " . I will try searching for a link when I get back to my computer.

this is all I can't get, at the minute

Good that you are into your hobby again Bob.

Here is a facelift model that FREDDIE gave to me. He painted in Royal Blue, even down to the matching number plate

It still sits in pride of place

I've been collecting/restoring and modifying diecast Minis for 30 years Bob and have got a lot of my spares etc from Steve Flowers but, he deals with the older Corgi, Dinky, Spot On etc.
http://model-supplies.co.uk/

Currently modifying a new Corgi Vanguards Mini Clubman into a 1275GT, a replica of my first ever car. Managed to find the 'GT' stripes and a pair of number plates, all in 1/43, from a guy on eBay. He does a lot of bicycle and motorbike stuff but he has quite a few number plates and transfers but, in all scales so, maybe worth a look

Some more I've used in the past but again, they are more for the older diecasts

Thanks for the reminder Mr Banana, my hobby, collecting and restoring British 00 model trains by (original) Hornby, Triang and Wrenn from the 50's and 60's. Packed 20 almost finished examples when I moved, never got round to them after.
Going to unpack them tomorrow, need to finish the work before it becomes to fiddly for my eyes.
