Tax on Tax is a Government ploy they hope people don't see.
They put the Tax up 2p per Litre but then there is vat @ 17.5% on top of that and so they rake in more than they admit to.

I have to be careful as I am employed and Taxed etc in the USA.
If I bring my money in earlier than allowed because I need it urgently, I have to pay further taxes on it,
but If I draw it out when over there and bring it back, I don't get Taxed?

I really do think the Time for the Public to take action is long overdue,
We now have the most expensive fuel In Europe, as ours does not include anything like Insurance etc.
We have more Individual Taxes against us, it all beggars belief.
Then The National Insurance on top, but we still Can send £10 Billion a year to Help Pakistan who have no problem finding money for Nuclear Weapons.

Sorry rant Over.

Oh Dear Wrong time to have bought the V6 then

You know, slightly different topic but, I filled out the Form to return my Tax Disc for refund from Ole Bluey and I was gobsmacked to read:

"If you bought 6 Months Tax, you will not recieve any refund from the 10% handling Fee"

Pardon? What handling Fee and why?

Now unless I am gravely mistaken, doesn't Consumer Law require you to make it perfectly clear to Consumers of any Fees incurred on such purchases??

and why a Fee on 6 Months Tax, when the process is no different than a 12 Month Disc??

There has always been an extra charge to Tax cars 6 monthly rather than Annually.
It is always best to go for 12 months as this saves you more than any Interest you could save.
It is clearly shown on renewal form the different rates.

I know there is a difference between the two, but, does it actually tell you why? That is what I was trying to point out. If it is a Handling Fee, then it should actually state that

I must say, I never really read the whole renewal document !! But will certainly be doing so next time

Doesn't this smack just a little of corporate snouts in corporate troughs and to hell with everybody else?

I. for one, am now at the stage where I would willingly tkae part in any legal demonstration and I'm not given to immoderate views.

Although such demonstrations have always had my moral support, it is now time to stand up and be counted.
I also agree with your first point.

I had better dig out my big winter jacket and prepare for a few trips to work on the Metro.

Your lucky you can.
Public transport here is abysmal if at all!
To get to Manchester Airport would take nearly 3 Hours by Public Transport (Bus/Walk and Train) in the car I'm there, Parked in Car Park and in my office at my desk ready to do....something, in 1Hr 20Mins at most.

now, the 7 miles in to Birmingham City Centre take me an average of an hour everyday.

I can be out of my house, walk to the metro, in the sarnie shop for some grease and at my desk in 30 mins.
