I tow a 1400kg van and it can dip in to the 20s though it can also be in the low 30s - and that is with a CDT without upgrade.

I tow a 1300kg caravan with my 2005 cdti auto tourer and get 31mpg. Not bad for a car with 90000 on the clock.

Thanks for all the replys, before the upgrade and with the original maf I was getting about 33mpg towing. Fitted mafin with pierburg because old maf was shot and the car failed the mot on emissions. Now I bought an after market maf and feel Iam using more fuel than I should be. I think the temp side on the mafin wasnt working correctly because on the mot the car was overfueling badly loads of black smoke.
Thanks Andy

Thanks for the replys, now Ive sent my mafin to Rover Ron and he's tested both the mafin and my pierburg sensor and given them the all clear so the next time I go away with the van I should hopefully see an improvement.

Hi Andy,

I tow a 1100Kg caravan plus luggage, food bikes (on the roof) and family of four with my ZT-T (with Ron Box set to 10) and usually get 24 - 28 mpg when towing. This contrsts with 36-38 solo (albeit on different types of roadat different speeds ). My ZT-T is manual too and has now racked up a heady 23,000 miles!

Hi Steve

Iam not away now until the end of May for along run with the caravan my mate tows a 1575kg twin axle with a Ford Galaxey 130tdi and he says hes getting 24-28mpg. I wonder its not just the weight being the main factor more to do with wind resistance anyway I will see how I get on.

Andrew
