Default How to adapt Rover centre caps to fitt straights

I have got straights under my 75 tourer and I wont to have rover centre caps.
I bought on ebay centre caps but they wont fit, the clipping mechanism is not deep enough.

So here is a photo shoot of how to adapt them.

You can see the difference in hight its 12 mm

First you remove the badge with gentle force from the rear.

Then you mark the clips with the caps

Drill three holes 2.5 mm through the clips and caps.
And then increase them to 4.8 mm holes (can be done at once but better safe then sorry!)

Now you have to remove the clip from the cap i used a stepped drill but you can use a file as well its soft aluminum.

Countersunk the holes in the cap

Install three countersunk bolts with 12 mm spacers between the clip and the cap.

if you place the mg centre cap now next to the modified one you see there is now no difference in hight.

And the final result!!

I know the the new type rover caps with the new type badge fit witout any modifications.
See my old 45 with straights;
