I have to say that from an interactive point of view the V4 is the tool I would have as an enthusiast owner, this is due to its guided processes for fault finding which I have seen no evidence of in any other product...

There are horses for courses...
Any idea what this is ??-----------http://tinyurl.com/jp9qoxu

Klarzy is probably right in that the thread had run its course, but I don't believe you can resolve the underlying issues simply by closing threads, Indeed this thread must have started less than an hour after the other was closed.
In actual fact i was totally unaware that thread was closed when i posted this up.

I had stopped reading it as it was giving me a right Scunner....

yes, a good tool for looking at data and changing settings... even some options that the T4 does not have...

BUT...

once you have the data what do you do with it as an enthusiast owner...??

What is right and what is out of range...?

How do you interpret it???

What actions do you take...???

That (for the comman man) is Where T4 wins out for me...

sorry, I do not have a screen video but...
T4 will read the error codes and then list the most probable causes, the method of inspection, the test range results expected and the next step to follow....

I do not see that in TOAF or pscan...

that fact alone makes T4 the best non expert tool, it really makes the diagnosis process easy which is what I think a lot of the membership is after...

I think Flyer got it right when he said "we are splitting into two camps". One camp firmly believes we should leave all the technical stuff to the experts, while the other thinks we should have a bash ourselves. Perhaps "nothing ventured, nothing gained".
I think that by my very nature, I would more naturally fall into the second camp, not because there is anything wrong with the experts, just simply because I am not made that way. In over 50 years of motoring, I have never used a garage for anything other than an MOT, and I am unlikely to change now.
I closed the thread, I felt that the thread had run its course and was starting to go off topic. If you feel it should have been left to run longer or made a bad judgement call then by all means pm Reebs who may reopen it

Pretty much my opinion too

By far the best answer when a post is getting to you George:-
  1. Keep calm
  2. Count to 3
  3. Dream of pork pies

Don't worry George, this thread was started a good few hours before the other was closed. So no one can accuse you of anything untoward old bean. (Even if it is being subtly hinted at)

This tread was started before the other was closed which is why it was allowed to run. Whilst re opening a thread about a closed thread is not allowed this wasn't the case as it is more the topic of 'technical' posts rather than one singled out
