After my dealings with sky i would avoid them like a dose of something

Installed it . no card for a week . then it came . disconnected hd tv

waited in twice for internet to show up ..

many phone calls to sky . never get through

went back to the sales guy in tescos who sort of signed us up.. nothing happered .. when i got through to cancel everything they tried saying noway your in a contract pal

where did i sign ? your salesman didnt get my signiture

asked for there equipment to be collected and installation feee refunded .. refused

flogged there kit on ebay to recover costs

sky tried to claim £180 off me for equipment .. as the sales man messed up and they refused a refund it was squashed .. but what a pain in the backside sky are

I've never personally had a problem with Sky, I think their customer "service" is what usually lets them down and i haven't needed to use that as yet. We had Talktalk a few years ago now and their broadband was awful, always slow but nowhere near as bad as Tiscali

what do you need the internet for? what are you useage habits?

Sky do indeed provide all 3 and assuming you really want their TV service then a bundle is the cheapest and simplest option. however their internet service can be shocking.

My habits are pretty unique, i have the following

BT phone line option 1 - for internt use only using their infinity 2 (i get 75meg) - resulting infantastic internet service

Sky TV - does what it says on the tin

Virgin media telephone for all voice calls.

An expensive way to do things but it works for me.

If you want Sky Sports then your choices are limited if you want all three from one company.

I was Sky for the last 4 years without too much trouble other than frequently dropped internet service for a while.

I have recently converted to Virgin Media for everything as the package worked out about the same cost as with Sky but with benefits.

6 months half price
Tivo box instead of Sky+ (which is much much better)
Cable broadband which is much faster and more reliable than ADSL with Sky.

Now Cable is usually dearer (as they have to buy their TV programming from Sky after all) but the way they structure their deal make it very nearly the same cost.

Virgin give you a second box for free whereas we had to pay £10 a month for a second sky box as Multiroom.

Virgin give you HD free, Sky charge you.

Those two meant it was better to be with Virgin for everything.

A further benefit, if you pay your phone line rental up front at £120 for 12 months that saves another £48.

So far I have been very impressed with Virgin although, as with all these big companies, the customer service experience can be "painful" getting through their call centre menus.

I would check availability in your area and see what they can offer.

Good luck.

Derek

I have Sky fibre broadband along with the telephone and all channels, must say Sky have always been extremely efficient the dates they gave for things to happen did albeit at 8:00pm when putting the fibre broadband in. I also have multi room with a wifi sky connector on the sky box so I can get the on demand service in a second room too. Drawback is the cost, I think I pay £80 ish on it all a month that includes two HD boxes one of which is terabyte storage

Virgin is great, but if customer service is a priority you may be disapointed.

when it works it works well, but get a problem, especially with the broadband then getting it sorted is a total nightmare.

I have been a V.M. customer in the past, without going into detail, my cancellation letter was FIVE A4 pages long, mainly due to explaining the various issues i had with the BB and the shocking C.S.

Sky have average customer service, but the broadband is at the mercy of BT Openreach, like all the other non-fibre services.

The actual broadband service is one of the best for ADSL. Unlimited (REALLY unlimited), quick at all times for me, no problems. I cant say that for BT or Talktalk. Its probably the best value if you use a fair bit of bandwidth.

Sky TV has no rivals. Virgin is the nearest, but still has nothing in comparison and is location dependant. Virgin broadband seems to have nothing but issues. Here in Exeter it is almost completely unfit for purpose.
