Smile On the road again ......

No not Willy Nelson, I mean my 1.8T Connie Tourer. Good as his word Mike King from MJS Auto and Marine arrived just before 10:00am and began work straight away. Head gasket definitely gone as indicated by trace Mayo in coolant header tank. The good news is the head itself was OK, only later when sump drained did he find 2-3 ltrs of water in the sump!

Car has only done about 32k since last HGF when standard gasket was used, at that time water pump and timing belt replaced, all looked OK but belt & braces thinking meant belt, pump and tensioner were replaced as well.

Bleed valve on hose broken off looks like years ago, front of car raised and a hose removed to let air locks escape. For those of you with AA breakdown repair cover, Mike is also Vat registered, so acceptable to them under policy T&C.

All in all looks a good job carried out with the expertise you'd expect from a K Series specialist, and much cheaper than local garage.
