Default Went for a remap today and what a disappointment

Ok not many of you know since my ztt died im driving 10 plate astra 1.7 cdti that we had since 2011 and 1200 miles on the clock recently I've fitted coilovers to improve handling and thought it could do with some more more omph as standard is 110hp and 260nm so after quick conversation with my mate i went to see him and get it done supposed to be 150hp and 330nm after
About 15 mins in to the proces and we have found that dpf been removed and it already had a stage 1 remap to 160hp and 350nm no wonder it felt nippy but i thought it was standard 110 well after few more quids off my pocket it pulls 190hp and massive 385nm torque
Just wonder how long the clutch will last

I really hope you’ve upgraded the brakes too.

Keep an eye on your gearbox because they are prone to failure after a remap .

Gearbox has noisy bearings apparently they all do theres a local garage that does them for £450
But its been like that for last 58 k miles so why should i
Also its been running on stage 1 map since we had it thats 8 years now so dont think that extra few pounds of torque will harm it

What do your insurer's say about boosting from 110BHP to 190 BHP?

A friend had a similar upgrade on his Mondeo last year, I cant remember the exact numbers but the increase was very impressive. It can spin its tyres in 4th gear on dry roads

4 weeks in and the clutch gave out while he was overtaking. The clutch was replaced and a few weeks later the gearbox started making some nasty noises, that failed with a bang. This was replaced and after a year this is making bad noises again.

The brakes seem to cope after the pads were upgraded.

In my view if you want a more powerful car it is probably best to go and buy one rather than try to upgrade your existing one beyond what it is capable of. A sensible remap is OK but increasing the power by much above 20% is probably going to end up costing in repairs.
