Hi Jon,
I noticed your mop in one of the images and just wondered what sponge you use on the disc? It appears to have a dimpled surface, never seen that one before, I have only ever used the white or blue ones. Cheap silverline variety!

I always use the white ones and yes this one is dimpled. Not sure where this one came from to be honest but its a good pad and its suits me. I normally use Farecla products although my current polisher is a silverline A bit of an update on the car. The stone chips are numerous on the bonnet so I will get it resprayed at some point in the future. I have just removed the door mirrors to take to the body shop and I am currently prepping the skirts.

Finally finished the paint correction this weekend.
The bonnet will need a respray to be perfect as the stone chips were too deep for my skills but it looks ok and better than it did After the full correction and final polish:- The bonnet The front Drivers side The roof Passenger side Bootlid, spoiler and rear bumper I also fitted Mk3 focus windscreen spray nozzles (heated). I forgot to take any pictures of the how too. sorry and removed the mirror caps which had really badly degraded paint. These will be getting sprayed the same time as the skirts Next up the engine undertray needs a bit of fettling Also the body bits will be going to the body shop

The before and after at the end will be the telling picture set. I'm not a fan of doing body work it drives me mad Oh yes mate. I was really lucky to get full set of brand new metal wheel centres with the correct badges for the straights in A1 condition from a fellow member so I will be getting the wheels blasted and sprayed in silver sparkle matching the centres. I have 3 x sets of ZT wheels stored around our house (1 set of straights on this car, 1x set of hairpins in black off my last car and 1 x set of hairpins in silver sparkle which need refirb) but its the straights for this car

I have been doing stuff in the background but not posting pictures so I thought I should post some so interested parties can catch up
Anyway the next job was the undertray I did find a split in the glass fibre so decided to reair it whilst I was giving this the once over Firstly I stripped of the acoustic cladding and pad by drilling the rivets of and gave the undertray and pads a clean. You can see once stripped down the fibre glass undertray is exactly the same for the V6 and the diesel Next up I did a fibre glass repair to the split.I drilled the end of the split to stop it tracking and gouged it out as a double V to allow me to get some new material along the split. I then applied the GRP, allowed it to dry and rubbed it down. The green is the new GRP material then the repair was prepped for spraying Some other minor repairs were conducted in the same way and the whole thing was degreased, rubbed down to key the surface and primed with a GRP primer The repaired split came up quite good and then a filler primer which was rubbed down and then sprayed. I used Satin black for this and once dried Im just waiting on some 5mm stainless flat washers so I can rivet the pads back on Next up I ordered some rear bumper spats to go with the OEM side skirts I have. Unfortunately these were made of GRP and shaped for a facelift bumper so they needed some fettering to fit correctly In this picture the top spat is the original shape and the lower one has had GRP layed up to match the pre facelift bumper and both re worked so they fit the pre facelift rear bumper I then primed these ready for the bodyshop. I also repaired some broken tabs on the OEM skirts and its all ready for the body shop (pictures to follow)

Next up brakes refurb starting with the calipers
Im refurbing the calipers from the car I broke last Summer and at some point I will sell the Calipers fitted to mine (or maybe refurb them and fit them to the wifes car) Anyway the front 190 calipers as removed. You will notice a previous owner of the scrapped car had stuck Brembo stickers on the calipers and the rears First thing was to strip them down. To pop the pistons I have a rig made up which uses LP air from my compressor to pop them, BE WARNED if you do this use the lowest pressure needed to push the piston Next up all the cast units were stripped of old paint and rust and cleaned up. At this stage I give the bores a very good clean as dirt is a killer in a hydraulic system Next up to decide whether I go for powder coating or painting I want to go for a dark metal grey as the finished colour. None of this bright yellow or red and definitely no Brembo stickers
