That's been an expensive tapping noise not to get fixed.

As to the clutch pipework transmitting the noise, if you're totally sure that's the source, I'd suggest it's most likely to be the slave cylinder that's no longer running freely on the gearbox input shaft. The slave cylinder floats loosely on the shaft, which rotates at engine speed. Anything tapping on the slave will get transmitted up the hydraulic pipework, where you have identified it. Whatever mechanism is generating the tapping, it's going to require internal inspection by removing the gearbox and quite a task for the inexperienced DIY mechaic.
