Are you suffering water in boot as number of areas to look,
1/ check round rear light cluster as gasket can leak
2/ behind boot trim, the waist line trim can leak on far two fixings
3/ behind boot trim, rear ventilation vents can leak around outside
4/ one I'm dealing with is leak from upper level, there are 5 clips for rear window finisher, they can leak and and cover your satnav (if u have one) which kills it or fill your boot. Mine isn't too bad as monitor boot area regularly and just noticed a drip from top of boot area.

Over the weekend went from home (Essex) to Bedlington (north of Newcastle) and back. 669 miles (included a slight detour to Barnard Castle on the way up).

Brimmed before leaving and brimmed when I got there: 40.2 mpg, which I didn't quite believe. So brimmed again when I got home again (at the very same petrol pump as the original fill-up): 40.0 mpg.

Double-checked my maths, so I guess I do believe it. Best I've ever had from the 1.8t.

More rust at the back of the O/S sill... MOT tester made a small hole:

So I went in with the Angle grinder

I cut out a bit more and ground off all the rust from the jacking point.

Its taped up at the moment awaiting my local garage welding it up tomorrow. happy to loose the jacking hole too.

With reference to the rust post above.

I hear that this is quite prevalent, or should I say only observed, on the Cowley Models.

Can anyone confirm this? ie Has there been instance of this on a Longbridge Model, and not as a result of previous damage etc?

Thanks.

Spurred on by Flying Banana's yellow dash, I took the plung and did the same with a spare dash I had kept aside until I worked up the courage to paint it YELLA!

Then I fitted a walnut handbrake lever to the 75 . . .

Well to be honest with you if you had described it to me I would have thought "hideous" but to be truthful I think it looks really good!
