Default wireless adaptors for windows 7?

Can anyone recommend a good quality wireless adaptor suitable for windows 7. I am moving my pc upstairs in the next few weeks and therefore will need the wireless connection as the modem / router are situated in the downstairs dining room.

Cheers :-)

edit. If it helps. The router is a d-link.

I got one of these recently and it works well ..

although basically a WiFi extender it has a Network point at the bottom to plug the PC into , so can still be used as a access point

I think Carl is meaning an Adapter for the Computer, something like this: USB - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/networ...48451-pdt.html

Or Onboard - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/networ...91895-pdt.html (Which would be better).

If it is for a PC, I would go for a Networks 200Mbps Powerline Home Network Adapters like one of these

You plug one into a socket adjacent to your router and connect it with an ethernet cable (supplied with the unit).
The other one then plugs into an electrical socket anywhere in your house.

It works by transmitting the data through your electrical wiring and is much faster and reliable than using wi-fi.
I live in a cottage, with very thick cob walls, and suffer with getting a good wi-fi signal. This thing works a treat

It should do yes, but at the moment I am hardwired in the Dining Room, I need a good Adaptor for my PC when it gets relocated .

good bits of kit but can also play havoc with mobile and land lines, have a try and if you do get problems then disconnect for a while to confirm. i do know a little about this being a CCWNA engineer.
