Outlook Address Book
Outlook is working ok now except for the address book.
I've imported emails from the old outlook.pst file but now seem to have two address books - or rather two lists of contacts. Outlook is obviously looking at a new list of contacts rather than the old one which has been imported along with the emails. Pic 2 below shows both contact lists are present. The first one (the new one) is empty - but clicking the second (nearest to mouse cursor) gives the old address book with all names & email addresses etc. Does anyone know how to switch the contacts lists so that Outlook goes to the old one rather than the new one? (I've done this before but can't remember how!). Last edited by Simon W; 12th December 2007 at 08:17.. |

Aha - found it.
Tools/Address Book/Tools/Options/Show this address list first - switch to other contacts list. |

It would be better if Gates & co put all this nonsense in the help file - but then they wouldn't be able to charge £50 a go for phone support would they?

They prefer you to spend even more on the Microsoft press Books to find out.
If you click onto Outlook Help, and be on Line, it is much more Helpful as it searches out your Question from the Database. |

I can never find anything using the online help system - it usually comes up with hundreds of irrelevant answers.

John - if I go to Outlook 2003's Tools/Address Book I've now got all these entries listed in the Show Names drop-down. The only one that contains any info is Contacts-Outlook (highlighted blue). Do you know how to delete the rest of them?
