head gaskets question
I bought a 75 1.8 Club Se last week and the head gasket has blown already luckily the garage have taken the car back and i'm getting my money back along with my old car. I'm now on the look out for a ZT 190 but i'm looking to know if the head gaskets give as much bother with the V6 as on the 4 cylinder engines?

Not at all. The KV6 has no bigger problem with headgaskets than any other manufacturers engines.

Not too many instances of HGF reported on the kv6 but all cars are prone if the "right" circumstances arise.

The very early KV6 installed in the '95 facelift 800s were prone to HGF but a lot of time & effort went in to sorting that out before the engine got anywhere near the 75 / ZT.

The kv6 in the 800 is also a different kv6 to the 75/MG. Had a few 75/Mg HGF's but not what you would call problematic

As the owner of a 2.5 V6, I was hoping Mr Lates would be more forthcoming on HGF than 'if the right circumstances arise'. I am intrigued to know what these circumstances are so I can avoid them !!

Do not worry Fraser, All cars are prone if left to run out of water ? On condition your KV6 does not spring a leak I can forsee no immediate concerns for your car. The KV6 is not a prone as the K16 but needless to say they do have the "odd" leak from thermostat / water pump and radiator areas. Dont let it worry you on condition you do the normal level checks and dont let the gauge go too high all will be well
