Just seen this on the news, so sad. A true character, RIP the great one. Another legend leaves the fold. Can only echo what others have said, a real entertainer, and a gentleman, I remember when he was honoured as BBC sports personality of the year,a few years back ,and the whole audience rose to their feet in respect for him. Back then he was looking frail.

When I heard he was in hospital a couple of days back and then read just last night that he is to remain in hospital, I had a feeling things weren't looking good. Woke up this morning to the news of his passing. Arguably, the greatest sports person that has ever graced our world. An entertainer, the best at what he does and a true gentleman. Always stuck up for his cause and fought against prejudice.

Normally, when a celebrity dies, it doesn't normally affect me, but I'm truly shocked and saddened by his death.

The Greatest.

Muhammad Ali. What a legacy to leave, and how lucky we are not know of him. His passing has clearly caused an outpouring of complimentary statements and is proof that no matter what religion someone is, their character and examples show a good way.

Some politicians should study him carefully.

In an age where "Hero" and "Legend" are so often used- misused- here was a truly legendary man who had a sense of purpose, social justice and of course a very accomplished sportsman.

That makes him a true hero.

He has done so much for many, and will continue to do so having inspired many people from all backgrounds.

RIP.

Some people are impressive. Some hugely so. Others justify the accolade. With Ali, he transcended all that false image. You felt you knew him personally. He was naturally graceful and always elegant, even in the ring. His mind was even sharper than his hands and the premature loss of that asset must have been very sad for him to bear. We were privileged to witness his life. RIP.
