Default Air con only cool

Have read a lot of threads on this but still not sure where I sit with my problem:

CDT with ATC and 2-speed fan.
ATC self-check shows all OK.
Set temp to LO with engine running, get outside temp air through vents. Press Auto, cooling fan kicks in at HIGH, large ally pipe under bonnet gets very cold, small one gets warm, air from vents definitely gets colder, but not COLD.

So, is it just a re-gas, or do I have to check anything else?

Thanks

Mick

Take it to these guys.

They guarantee it will be colder or your money back.
You can't lose really. Just don't buy anything else!

EDIT: Do they have a KF near you?

Sounds like a regas to me,
How long since last done?
It is recommended for a change every two years although most don't bother until warm.

Thanks for the input.

I will probably have to put my trust in a French version of QF, so to get a little technical, what do I need to make sure that they do? From what I have read they should do a complete evacuation then replace the refrigerant and oil, Is this correct? And how do I know if the correct quantities have been used?

Yes. That ensures any moisture in the system is removed. There's a desiccant pack inserted in the bottom of the condenser. I'm not sure whether this is replaced at each recharge or not. It's described in Haynes manual.

The refrigerant charge is 500 grams apparently. This should contain the special lubricating oil.

Not enough gas should be hot.

Details on refrigerant can be found on the yellow label stuck to the bonnet slam panel.

Check on your side of the country at Midas, Speedy or Norauto. If you want them to change the air filter best would be to go to Norauto and give them a week (at least ) notice for them to source the filter. In Paris area, Speedy and Midas were reluctant to change the filter saying it cannot be sourced at all! while Norauto asked me for a week notice...
HTH
Edit: did you set your climate control on recycle? it helps a lot, especially in Southern France

Thanks majedm.
Speedy here don't do A/C, don't know if we have Midas, but Norauto will do it. Which filter do you mean, the standard air intake one?
If the Air con is on Auto it switches to re-circulate until the desired temperature is reached.
