Default Door Locked and Can't Open, Help

Hi All,

I've a 99 75 Connosieur. The rear left door had a bit of a problem with it. I could open it from the inside, but not from the outside. And to figure out what was wrong with it, i was fiddling with the door and in my infinite stupidity, yes you guessed it, turned the child lock on! Now, I can;t open it from either the inside or from the outside. I took it to the dealer here and the bloke said that he might have to cut open the door trim. I don't want to cry like a baby, so, I was wondering if there is any way to open the door without going through all that pain?

Welcome along

You can get the door card off without cutting it. The original problem is the nylon cam on the back plate has snapped, they fail due to poor lubrication and cracking through age.

You'll probably need to pop the inner door rubber out, and you may need to take the seat base out for clearance.

You should be able to flick the door lock off with a bit of bent wire, which will allow you to open the door.

Replacement backplates are about £15 from Xpart and very straight forward to fit.
