I know there was some problems with some of the earlier ones as I said a little lubrication in v cold period sorted mine out it would open then hesitate before going up more slowly than usual took 2-3 openings to return to normal. I know steve did huge amount of research in the strengh of springs required, so maybe you should try to contact him to see if he has any idea of why some are not working correctly

Yes paul see post no 10, but as you say havent seen him on the forum for some time,

I did have to adjust my boot hinges as the pressure was pushing them up a bit and they still need a a strong push to close the boot, not on chrome holder for numberplate lights you would snap it off!! almost happened to mine when a well intentioned friend tried to do it that way but fortunately stopped him before too much damage was done

I've had a play with WD40 as stated above in this topic. But with no result.

I've made a picture of my setup. Can somebody (Klarzy?) see what the difference is with my setup and yours?

As you can see, there is quite some movement up and down. I've been told in the past that it's normal, but I wonder how it is with other people's setup.

The spring being slack is perfectly normal its not tensioned till its down, youl will need a washer fitting to it at the bottom as mentioned earlier if its not working properly
