Default help with a howling noise please

Hi people I hope your morning is as bright and breezy as it is here.

For the last couple of months I have had a tired whine starting at around 1850 revs and becoming inaudable around 2900.

As sugested it may be the O rings on the intercooler..

I have replaced the PCV valve and made sure the air filter is fitted ok.

It is now more like the wind blowing through a gap in your front door! Not always there! And I've heard best described as the old tv off air tone! At the same rev range...

I have seemingly no loss of power and no more smoke!

BUT... I did notice it quietly creep in whilst stationary and foot pressed hard on the brake pedal!

Off/on the brake pedal ..... On/off the noise!!

My question..(Hooray I hear you sigh) is ......

Do we have any known weak links in the vacum side of the braking system and could anyone sugest any other areas to investigate please.

Sorry for the longish post and thanks for reading...
