Well my Mg zt HG has been breached, only had it four weeks, good job i've kept my rover 75, made a good start today striping down to get head off, quite enjoyable, even if it was raining, ordered parts, so hopefully should be back together by the end of week, sore back and head(bonnet)

Bad luck mate - just remember the liner heights are key - depending if they are proud of the block or not will determine what type of gasket to use -elastomer or MLS.

Difficult to see, but the dark staining from the oil channels looks very much like the classic MGR elastomer breakdown to me. I've just done mine after it dumped all its coolant into the sump. No overheat or stress triggered it. It simply broke loose. Here's what I mean.

This is why you need to replace the bonnet struts, before you bang your head or:-

My finger was down the edge of the meeting point between bonnet and wing, whilst I was looking at the tyre size. Gust of wind and "Ouch!"

Got my new struts from SGS and very pleased with them.
