Thanks, I mistakenly took the word 'totalled' literally!

The 1.8 not necessary, the 2.0 easy I believe. However, 1.8 HGF still scares me and the 2.0 belt change cost is prohibitive. These issues don't exist on the diesel.

I have had diesel cars since the montego. I find they are boring..................................because they are so reliable.........................the engines that is. The rest of the engineering is not far behind on the 75 at least.Always reliable m.p.g. ,especially on a good long run. Over 52 mpg, even at warp factor 5 when on the continent touring.

Interesting.
Since buying my 2.0 V6 Auto Connie in Dec 2015 I too have kept an log of my yearly outgoings and these now total £ £11,947.56 (Fuel, maintenance, tax & insurance) over 40949 miles. That works out at 29.18p per mile

If I abandoned her tomorrow depreciation would be less than £200 per year. This would be about the same as my first 75 (a 1.8 that went for scrap) but not as good as my 2nd 75 which was subject to an insurance payout that meant I doubled my money :¬)
I keep thinking of getting something a bit better on juice for the daily commute but a newer car would involve more depreciation and not feature leather & walnut so we'll see.

My missus teases me about keeping a spreadsheet but y'know
