Default CDT clutch slave/thrust bearing.

The clutch judder has not been improved by fitting a new teardrop engine/gearbox mount, and tonight while moving the car, the thrust bearing(I assume) was starting to make a dry, scraping noise, the judder was uncontrollable, banging. So I need to decide on what parts to buy. I'll be taking the car off the road for the duration, and will certainly change the clutch plates as well, but will leave ordering a DMF until it has been inspected. I would welcome comments especially on whether members' experience of the plastic or metal slaves favours one or the other? And what are the chances that the DMF needs replacing. As said elsewhere, my 2001 CDT is approaching 133,000 miles. Thanks in advance. Andrew.

Luk slave every time, give the metal slave cylinder a wide berth.

I've fitted one of THESE to my car in very late December, and I've covered just over 8000 miles since.

I'm more than happy with it

Thank you guys, for your quick replies, - I am assuming the Rimmer's slave is plastic, then?

Yes it is, and it works fine

The metal slave employed in the last clutch change on the Odyssey Blue Connie SE saloon I bought from John "Master" is about to be replaced with one of these, as the metal slave is noisy as hell after less than two years and 7000 miles.

I've dealt with enough metal hydraulic cylinders over the years to know that the bore of such a cylinder is far more aggressive an environment for a rubber seal than a plastic one, coupled with the fact the wife's car still has the original fitment slave after fifteen years leads me to the conclusion that the plastic slave is fine for most people

Is this the kit for the CDT ? I might get round to swapping out my noisy metal slave later this year, once the MGB GT project is back on the road (getting close now).

Cheers

My plastic slave is the original from 2003 and works perfectly even though it has never had a fluid change.
