Thanks Arctic.
I'll see if I can get Astraeus (Chris at Tayport) or Cossie Dunc (Duncan) to do it, and a few other jobs for me. Gearbox oil change, new gold resistor, intercooler rings, possibly pollen filter as well. Must buy a lottery ticket too!

This is starting to sound like a Monty Python skit!
Oy, I had t'job dome fifteen minutes before I started. Didnae need a jack, I blocked it up with a matchbox in the middle of the road...….. Myself, I thought I had the ramp situation sorted. A friend gave me a set of sturdy old ramps and I mounted them on plywood bases with rubber sheeting on the bottom so they wouldn't slide on my smooth garage floor. Marvellous! Of course they wouldn't clear the front spoiler on my ZT190. Jack time.....

I'd suggest going just up the road to Brian at Dreadnought. Might work out the same price with all the fuel saved over travelling long distance. If you are around Dundee way anyway, we can sort you out. |

Thanks for the advice.
I was in touch with Dreadnought garage before, but they are no longer MG/ROVER dealers, and I wasn't sure they were still clued up on our cars. For instance, they had never done a fan gold resistor replacement... There's a good chance I will be going to St. Andrews soon, so a stretch up to Dundee is not so far. I'll let you know if I will be coming. Besides, my car will relish a longer run! I did take her down all the way to Newcastle to see Brian, so Dundee will be a dawdle!

The new MG Rover one is apparently the actual same shore as the old diesel one, but still as an 'M' on the rubber as they lost/threw away the 'T' mould.
I still think that the compound I received was a little softer than the old, but that could be due to the rubbers age. Made in EU by the same company that used to supply MGRover many moons ago. |

Looks like I will be adding some planks to my ramps. If they get much longer I'll need a longer garage!
After being frustrated with the approach angle I went on Amazon and priced out some "Race Ramps" $180.00 EACH! Who buys just one ramp? (And those were the cheapest ones they listed. Many were in the $6-700. range.)
