My Mirage 2 monogram I think is described as 'kinetic' whatever that means in paint terms. It doesn't flip but depending on the light, ranges from blue to blue with a silver sheen, it is described as silver over blue, there is a Mirage 3 listed which is described as silver over blue with a hint of gold but I have never come across one. Mine is one of 17 and attracts lots of admirers, I'm loving it.

When I bought it 7 years ago I thought I was buying wedgewood when I was not so well versed on Rover colours and the dealer hadn't a clue!

...........

Never mind the car, that perfectly describes myself although I consider moi to be 1 of 1.

When we moved to this somewhat rural part of Suffolk about 24 years ago, I took my Champagne coloured German Sheppard Dog in to the local vets for the first time. The lady in her forties behind the counter greeted us with "aren't you a gorgeous boy, we've never had one your colour in here before, would you like a treat". Given that rural Suffolk wasn't exactly full of Indians, I replied, thank you and do you have something for the dog as well?

She didn't know what to say!

I'd still like to know exactly what makes a colour 'monogram'.

Somewhere I have a Monogram brochure (8 pages from memory) which I believe mentions flip, kinetic and supertallic finishes. The prices ranged from £1k to £2k from memory. I must dig it out.

Any car that had optional extras or paints, that could only be ordered under the Monogram Scheme, are in effect Monograms. It’s not just about paints.
My old ZR for example, it had the TrafficMaster alert system installed. The car was just a Rio Red diesel with 160 body kit, but the TrafficMaster on a ZR could only be ordered under the Monogram Scheme. Technically, that car was a special order under the scheme, so was a monogram car. A tedious link yes, but still.

Same goes for 75s that were painted a ZT colour in the factory and vice versa.
