Default PPD Key with the Rover Logo anyone?

Something I spotted whilst browsing eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166468556...mis&media=COPY

The problem is , as with all old fobs, the buttons split and push through . rendering them useless . The rubbers split or crack on them, and deteriorate past their usable functions. They will need renewing if not now , very shortly. So is it worth it , even at £10 .. ?

I personally prefer this key type - it has separate buttons that do not cause the case to flex and break. The existing PCB and transponder fit - but make sure the transponder is secured in place, since if it slips down further into the case the car may not start! The downside is it will not accept your existing key blade, so you'll have to have this blade cut at a cost - I've had two blades done, one was £6 and one was £12...

Only thing to be aware of is the flip keys are no use for a V8. The transponder pick up bezel around the ignition key slot is deeper on a V8 (no idea why) and the key cannot go in enough to turn.

The transponder is still far away from the lock inside the flip keys , but do work. I had these key fobs on my rover, but have gone back to the originals. Whilst they look more modern , and are comfortable in your pocket, i found them a pain to change the batteries. Still each to his own. ...

Default Pre PPD key fob

Not even in very good condition either.
It does also mention "From £8.90 per month for 12 months with PayPal Credit*" which likely wouldn't apply if the asking figure is actually £10.
