I had a ZT with xenons come round the other day and the "xenon technology" in white was on the lower of the headlight interior and quite obvious, but on 75's I've seen it on the side at 90 degrees to the bulb/burner and fairly innocuous.. like this

So what's the situation with regard to the wiring when fitting Xenons to a previously Halogen equipped car ?
Do you need to swap across the two levelling switches (attached to the suspension arms) with their associated wiring, or will the Xenon's internal levelling mechanisms work with the conventional thumbwheel type headlamp switch ? Many thanks

Out of curiosity...
Were headlight washers only fitted to cars with Xenons? My MKII ZT had the washers but no Xenons until I fitted them.

I think they were an option, but more likely replaced with halogens after damage due to high price of xenons.

I'd thought that may be the case as Xenon's do command somewhat of a premium. Glad I've been able to restore them

AFAIK heated washers were an option before xenons, next doors 51 plate Cdt has them but obviously no Xenons

Lots of 75s and ZTs have washers but no xenons, that I have viewed over the years!

I think some clarification might be in order - putting xenons into a non-xenon car will work, but they won't behave like the factory fitted ones.
The factory fit has a different lsm with no thumbwheel adjuster. Fitting the full setup as it would have been from the factory would be a big job - as well as the suspension sensors and lsm, I think you'd need the battery backup sounder module. |
