Smile Started the Spring Detail

Started my Spring detail the other day - always nice to properly get to grips with all the stuff the Winter throws at my Baby.

So far I have:
  • cleaned the door jams and hinges, though I want to take the front doors off at some point to properly get into the backs of the front wings
  • machine polished the bonnet and roof. Still got the rest of the car to do, but there were a couple of small scratches left by a neighbours cat that needed urgent attention. All sorted now. (the scratches, not the cat!)
  • Bought a set of shiny new numberplates to go on.

Todays task was to start cleaning the engine bay. Still some areas to tackle, but made some good progress today, though mainy in areas that probably won't get noticed. A few pics of todays efforts:

Got sore fingers now.

Sadly, I won't be able to make it to the National this month, but John Howard has arranged for a stand at a show at Clandon House later in the summer so I've got that to work towards.

Cliff

Your 75 is looking as stunning as ever Cliff. Every time I see your 75 it just looks better than ever if it that is even possible.

Thanks Clyde. I have to keep at it, there's a certain green ZTT that keeps raising the bar!

Have a great time at POL.

That is pretty amazing Cliff must have taken you hours.

I tried to do mine last year, but I gave up as I thought I might damaged something.
What tools did you use when doing yours?

Your 75 must look as new now as it did when it first rolled of the production line back in 2003, pretty impressive achievement.

Thanks. It's mainly a mixture of microfibre cloths, wire wool, and Brasso. Took me a fair old time to get it to where it is now, as I just tended to focus on one small area at a time. Now it's just a case of wiping it over each time I clean the car, and giving it a refresh each spring to maintain the more hard to reach parts.
