Looks like no takers, I'm not even sure what the 'canister' is? Can you link to a parts diagram that shows it? (maybe one on Rimmer's site).

The fuel cooler (diesel only) and the carbon absorption canister are quite differet thngs. Only petrol models have the canister. which is part of the emissions control system. It absorbs petol vapour generated in the tank and traps it rather than allowing it to vent to atmosphere. Every so often, the purge valve under the bonnet is activated and the absorbed vapour is drawn into the engine and combusted.

The canister must remain in circuit, but I guess if the piping were extended/rerouted, it could be positioned in a way to accomodate an exhaust system revamp.

ok thanks bud.i reckon as two of the lines are made of a hard plastic, the best way to extend is to slip some rubber pipe over to create a couplet with jubilee clips.what ya reckon.

One thing to consider: is the relative location of the canister to the fuel tank of importance?

I guess it depends on the 'rubber', which covers all sorts of things. It would need to be a petrol resistant 'rubber' and not a natural rubber type. The 'rubber' fuel hose/pipe sort would be fine, preferably the braided variety.

The vapours are fed to the canister from the higher level expansion tank that joins with the main fuel tank. I think if the canister was moved horizontally but not vertically it would be OK. That's my feeling looking at the RAVE drawing. Whether that leaves enough flexibility to do the exhaust pipe revamp I've no idea.

Depends on what is fitted, I have had a quad exhaust fitted to my ZTT, and the way it is done, does not require the canister to be moved
