Default Land rover interchangeable parts kv6 cambelt

When changing the 3 belts, water pump and idler and tensioner I can buy the parts for £140, however the same parts for the landrovers have the same part number with just an L at the end, they look the same but will they fit a zt 190 kv6 as the parts are much cheaper to buy????

Yes they will, there's a lot of parts that will fit our cars as well as Landrover models if you add an L to many part numbers you'll see if they're available, they're very often cheaper too than the MGR ones

So if I buy the said belts and idler etc will they definitely fit 100% as I'll be leaving my parts and car with a mechanic friend who is doing the work. The parts are about 50% cheaper, sounds too good to be true

Yes, but make sure they are actually genuine Land Rover

The problem with cross referencing to Land Rover part numbers, especially on the net, is you will get results from Britpart, Allmakes etc etc.

Some makers of aftermarket parts for Land Rover, I wouldn't touch with a bargepole

I've heard Britpart referred to s**tpart by one of my neighbours who runs a Landy.
As Brian says make sure they are genuine Land Rover.

Quick note in case no one mentioned it yet, the Freelander V6 thermostat is not interchangeable with the Rover. The hoses connection are different and of different height.
