I don't think there is a test for the sensor, I would guess that it's a swap out repair.

Personally, I'd take each one off in turn, and check for damage, and check the connector for signs of damage to the wiring.

ISTR that anyone who did have a problem it was the arms flipping after being jacked up......

Just had my light repaired as it was pointing to the ground and also flickered when engine was running. The adjusting mechanism had collapsed and to take it out (front bumper off etc) repair and put back together was £86. Just bought another set so have a spare pair now.

T-Cut, you seem to know where you are talking about.
I have also Xenon lights, the “HID” type. Do you know what the life expectancy of those is?

Greeners and T Cut thanks to your help i was able to change the bulb this weekend. You were right it was the H7 type and the main beam is H9. The only problem was that due to an unfornunate incident last week a large piece of debris pushed my bottom grill right in. This meant that i had to take the front bumper off. What a job that was freezing cold and 4 very stubourn bolts on the underside. Still managed to get it off and then took the light units out, whilst out checked the fan and also wrapped the lighting loom to protect againt chaffing and mended the mesh as best i could. Reasembled but due to not having any ramps i have 4 screws to put back in to finish the job (my head is to big to under the front) and adjusting the gap under the bonnet. I must say without the "how does" from the site i would not have had a clue how to remove the bumper. Thanks again to the club members that contributed as it saved me a packet on costs.
