The only enquiry in this saga where the one who leads the people carrying out the enquiry has not been appointed to the job by the key person being investigated. So a little different in this sense and all the more welcome for it.

i watched a lot of the parliamentary debate today, it was very interesting. I believe we witnessed a turning point when Steve Baker halfway through his delivery suddenly changed his tune, i could not believe what i was hearing! Anyway BoJo is in India doing his world statesman role.

This inquiry thing looks a little like the one held north of the border, the one that was set up to look at the Salmond/Sturgeon thing. It appears it will consist of 4 Conservatives, 2 Labour and 1 Liberal. So all he has to do is say he can't remember, has no recollection and not to his knowledge and his fellow party members will do as they are told and it's sorted.

Think this one will require some nice cheese sarnies and several mugs of tea though.

Better than Crossroads this.

BJIndia

Comparisons can be crude and personal styles can confuse issues, but just watched BJ’s speech in India following the signing of the free trade agreements on trade, industry and commerce.

The difference between BJ’s performance in a non-Westminster environment, and Starmer’s faltering and embarrassing inability to follow his script and remember his place in the 20 point (print size) prepared script on home ground, was impressive.

Of course his Indian audience was as usual polite and appreciative, unlike the Animal Farmyard of Westminster. These post-Brexit agreements are now becoming more frequent and should go a long way to the recovery from the Covid debacle.

What is the likelihood of BJ and his party winning the next election and BJ having a second term as Prime Minister. I suspect it going to take a crane to get him out of Number 10 and his supporters will do what they can to keep him there.

If he indeed does win, the opposition will really need to look at themselves. The next election must be great chance to win power. If he wins it will be a shock.

I'd say the British people will really need to look at themselves.

If I was a betting man I would put my money on BJ or someone not too dissimilar being in power after the next election. It's amazing what a few straplines about 'taking back control' and a 1% income tax reduction can buy these days.

I think I may be decending into being a bit of a cynical grumpy old dog.
