[QUOTE=MarkS;2925652]4 suggestions to save money.

"2) A dessicant based dehumidifier, such as the highly recommended Meaco DD8L. (~£250). Very effective at lower temperatures, such as caravans, garages and R75s.
Keeps the house dry, significantly reduces heat loss by keeping walls drier. Stops all damp on windows, except under extremely cold weather.
Absolutely no mould ever again.
Only ever runs when needed."

I see that a 2 year old boy's death has been blamed on mould, caused by excessive damp.

A friend has just purchased a dehumidifier for £130, and was shocked to find the humidity level was at 83%.
If the level is kept below 70%, mould cannot survive.
The giveaway that the property was damp, was that condensation was appearing on the inside of windows, when the exterior temperature was 12°C. As we enter winter, the problems will only get worse.

That little boys death is disgusting. I doubt there will be any prosecutions but those in the housing department need sacking. Those that raised concerns but did not follow them up need a good slapping. Following up on things is a big thing of mine, alas to many employees do not and use the excuse " I told x" how do they know X read the email?
Follow it up, go over their head. Get the problem solved.
It seems some of these people were not part of the solution but part of the problem and the housing department do not need problems.
My sympathies to the family

Just had our annual update for energy from British Gas and we are using less gas and electric than last year. Good news. Unfortunately, our bills are going up over £80 a month! Thank you Mr Putin, you are an absolute ****.
