Muddies the waters. One can then take upon themselves a particular nationality that gives the most bang for the book. Can make "asylum" better than "economic".

At least you now know they could be on a moped near you delivering 'Just Eat' or 'Deliveroo' or whatever! Similarly, if you an afford to take a taxi you will be able to have a deep conversation on the weather conditions in the channel!

Take control back was a cornerstone of brexit. Its up to the government to do just that. They cannot blame anyone else if they cannot do it, thats what people voted for.

Unfortunately, that's true. It detracts from the genuine refugees' cases and helps to foster prejudice and hatred of every one.
But when all is said and done, it is not the refugees' fault. Blame the corrupt traffickers, it's another version of the slave trade.
The transit countries between entry and exit points in the EU are all complicit in this tragedy and the failure of the EU to stop the members ignoring settled EU law is abhorrent. Thank heaven we are out of that horrible mess.

You must hold them to the take back control slogan.

That mantra applies solely to UK territories and UK cannot be held responsible for acts of what is after all hostility to cessation of the subjugation of foreign laws. But this is not the thread for that particular discussion!

When one's nearest neighbour has a freedom of movement policy, it's very difficult to keep one's border secure. How any country can happily allow people to transit their country and then knowingly see them cross one of the busiest sea lanes in the world beggers belief. Oh and then blame the UK government.

Besides we're now implementing a policy where such migrants are being shipped of to Rawanda.

What can possibly go wrong?

Apparently it hasn't quite fully started yet. And, due to various objectors, might not start for quite some time. One wonders just what is going on.

Smoke and mirrors. Action for the next election has been undertaken.

I agree, the media is talking about only 300 a year being sent there rather than tens of thousands BoJo spoke of.
