Engine cover
Hi All,
Has anyone removed the engine cover from a diesel for a while? Mine vibrates quite a bit that it can be heard and seen. It's held down secure enough by the three small bolts but the rear side of it still vibrates up and down which can be seen from inside the cab as the bonnet running along the windscreen edge looks to be faintly shimmering. Also the passenger side front corner of the cover is starting to cut through my silicone intercooler hose (I have adjusted the hose but as the corner vibrates it still touches when idling). I just want to remove the cover until I have replaced the lower mount and rectified anything else causing the excessive vibrations.

DONE: HAD A CRAZY IDEA THAT I HAD TO GET RID OF MY MG ZTT DUE TO NOT HAVING A DRIVE AND HAVING TO PARK ON A BUSY STREET WITH A VIEW TO GETTING ANOTHER ONE AT A LATER DATE WHEN I HAVE A DRIVE. ENDED UP REALISING IT REALLY ISN'T PRACTICAL NOT HAVING A CAR TO GET AROUND AND I NOW OWN A VW EOS 3.2 V6 INDIVIDUAL (1 OF 20 REMAINING IN THE UK WITH THAT ENGINE AND TRIM COMBO) EVEN THOUGH I STILL LIVE ON A BUSY ROAD WITHOUT A DRIVE |

Thread moved to a more appropriate forum. Re-direct left in old. This may be the better forum as threads get ‘lost’ very quickly in the General Forum.
Not had any issues with mine though...... However the engine cover is in two parts, so are all the bolts in place for the rear section ? One of the bolts (passenger side), from memory, is a bit of a pig to get to, so may have been "overlooked" thus allowing it to vibrate.... My cover is nowhere near the intercooler pipe to affect the pipe Do you have any pics that you can put up to aid members ?
