Morning Steve, morning all.

Typically, it's looking like it could rain out there this morning.....I'm off up to Norfolk and the boat for the weekend so I shouldn't be surprised

Morning Jeff. Just had to liberate a wee Great T1t that managed to get in the kitchen. Not sure how it managed, the door was only open enough to let the girls potter in/out.

Morning all, had an interesting day yesterday. We have booked to fly to Heathrow arriving Monday 13 June at 06:50, a direct flight of 9 hours. For anyone interested in planes we are flying on a Boeing 787-8 at 41,000 feet Mach 0.85. The cabin will be pressurised to 6,000 feet. The aircraft is made from composite and it’s design and performance saves 20% in fuel.

Saw the vascular surgeon yesterday and had a vascular scan. He said the abdominal aortic aneurysm had grown and it will need to be repaired with a synthetic graft. The graft is made to measure so it does not leak using a CT scanner and IV iodine to get the size correct. To make the graft takes 2 weeks and it has to be made in the USA. The operation will be elective, planned for October and he said I can be fixed in Kenya or in the UK. The surgeon said it’s not urgent but it needs to be done and planned for.

My attitude is to just get on with it and not view it as a downer, keep active and keep looking ahead. Not sure if to get it done privately or on the NHS.

How is everyone?

From what I've seen on the many TV medical programs an aneurysm is something you want to get on top of Phil. He might say its not urgent but I think I'd struggle to share his opinion!

Had an unexpected visit from an old mate the other day. We were at school together but fell out of contact when he moved a few years ago and I lost his number when I lost my old mobile. He was in the area as support vehicle for a long distance bike race, he's self employed, custom builds cycles to order, electric bikes etc.

Thank you Steve, that really is very kind of you to say. You are right of course. As soon as we arrive in the UK, I will let the vascular surgeon know. When I saw him in December in Bristol NHS he did say I was to contact him if anything changes. It’s a choice of an open repair or endovascular with the camera (less invasive and faster recovery). Both procedures are risky, done under GA and involves having to stay in hospital. I think I’d rather have the op done in the UK than in Africa.

Your school friend you met up with having an interest in bikes, what fun and great for you both to catch up. What a buzz and special
