Smile Trip to MG dealer in Riyadh, Saudi

Hi all,

just back from my trip to the local MG dealer in Riyadh, Saudi... and I am as jealous as hell... the new 750e - 75's/ZT's look fab.. they are not as elegant as our British 75's/ZT's but all the same are very very nice.. and are still a 75/ZT even if not completely a British one.. wish they'd release them in the UK..

I spoke to a few people whilst I was there, and everyone is "happy" with the "new" model MG's - 3, 5, 350 & 550... but say the 750e is the best by far.. they call that one British... the ones in the photo's are V6's and a 1.8T.. going back to the spares dept this week.. see whats what..

Thanks for posting that Kev. I've just finished reading James Taylor's book which has an interesting chapter on the Chinese cars. Did the cars you saw have the redesigned 'Vauxhall Vectra' instrument pack? Edit: Ah, you've beaten me to it; they have!

I'd also be interested to know whether the Chinese have changed the plastic thermostat housing & pipes when they modified the V6 engine (provided it's visible of course).

Simon

PS Note the long wheelbase rear doors.

The 750 looks very much like a lincoln town car now though

Hi Simon,

didnt take much notice of the thermostat, will have a look when I go back..

and I think the new instruments look out of place in the 750.. for me - it lets it down.. in the flesh - it looks nicer that the photo's..

And Dean - you may think they dont look the same now - but for me, when you are near them, and sat in them.. they still feel like a 75..

and can't wait to read James Taylors book - its waiting for me at home in Salisbury

Appreciate the pics.

Whilst the instrument cluster is nice in it's own right, in a 75 type car it's missing the elegance.

Many thanks for this thread. What a shame that Rover folded and the cars are no longer made where they should be.

Very interesting - What were the local prices like compared to other makes?

All in one headlight/sidelight is neat and more up to date.

Keep the pics coming!

It is good to see that the 75 design lives on to this day, thanks for posting the pictures I've moved this thread into the Chinese NAC & SAIC forum so it doesn't get lost in the General section.
