Default Powerflex engine tie.

Hi all,

Has anyone changed their lower engine tie for the powerflex poly on a V6?

If yes, did you just use the large yellow one or change both the big and small one?

What i don't want is any vibration.

Am i right in thinking the red ones are softer as they are for the diesel?

Yes, changed mine for the yellow large one and also the small bush as well.
The red one is for diesels. I have no vibration problems.

The suggestion is that the small bush does not deteriorate, so does not need replaceing. The yellow one is for petrol the red for diesel. The diesel one is much stiffer, to cope with the more torqy diesel engine and it vibration.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

where do we get these from; since I have now considerably more beans having done a synergy, decat, EGR bypass and exhaust I am picking up a rather irritating buzz under heavy acceleration which suggests I should attend to this (using a red one I guess as its a diesel!)

Worth checking first, as when I came to look at the mount on the 75, the small one had completely disintegrated, however as Harry says, most of the time, the damaged one is the larger of the two. Mine was just very old.

below is what some plonker had fitted to my 190 before i changed it

My diesel one any car that as clocked up 65000 i would check the mount

not an hard job to do you may have to move the sensor on the exhaust of the 190 to get the bolt out but again not really hard.

I changed to Powerflexes on the lower tie about three weeks back and the car is better for it. No longer get a small kick on start up and better on low rev gear changes. Feels nice and solid.
Not sure on Harry's view about the diesel red bush being harder. I was told by Gammons (who I bought the bushes from) that it was the other way around in that the yellow bushes were found to be too hard for the diesel and allowed more vibration to be transmitted into the car which is why Powerflex made the red version for the diesel.
I changed the small bush at the same time (also red). On inspection I found little wrong with the original but with the tie off the car it seemed folly not to change both and neither are difficult to replace.
Don't forget to torque tighten the bolts.
