Default Just had my ZT rear ended :(

What I've always feared happening has happened tonight got rear ended at a roundabout by a complete d*ck floorin it up the sliproad behind me.

Im ok, the ZT's wounded but could have been a lot worse. Only damage to my rear bumper but my drivers side tail pipe is dented.

What id just like to ask is, where should i go from here. I personally dont want to go through insurance as it'll just get written off and at 201k miles i doubt i'd get much of a payout for it. + i really dont need all the headache of all that right now.

I know a guy at a local spray shop who can spray pearlescent paints, he's specialises in tvrs and has sprayed quite a few of our monogram cars before including a bonnet and bumper for another typhoon. So im going to pop over to see him tomorrow to get a quote.

I said that id much rather get it fixed privately rather than go through insurance, explained all the reasons and he was ok with it. But just worried that we wont pay out when he sees the quote, based on previous quotes i've had from the sprayer i recon it'll be anywhere between £800-£1400.

So what should i do, go down the privately settle and fix route and hope it works out or go down insurance route and have to deal with all that headache?

Other reason i dont want to go through insurance is it'll just knock my renewal up even though it werent my fault!

Any advise would be much appreciated. I have pics of the accident scene, his car and mine + reg plate + his number.
