Default 2.7" Rearview Mirror Dash Cam

What do people think of the 2.7"Rearview Mirror Dash Cam .

Does anyone on here use one, are they any good. I suppose having the camera & LCD screen built in to the mirror saves having an extra unit stuck on the windscreen.

My only concern is the extra weight being put on the original rearview mirror fixings.

I have a similar one, for 20 quid. Had it for about 18 months and still working well. They are not heavy and the fixings are rubber so easy to attach. Only thing is, the camera is orientated for LHD so it doesn't turn too far to the right but I found sliding the mirror further along on the original mirror solves that problem.

Alan, does yours have an AUX input?

I see most of these mirror units also have the AUX input, I suppose you could connect a reverse camera for viewing.

Mine doesn't have an aux input. I was going to just connect a separate dashcam to the rear but have never got round to it.

Hi

is it good enough to get number plates if needed?

I have a Navall 2 with dash-cam on the way and was looking for a way to have a rear facing camera as well but am struggling to find a god one. This has got me thinking ... can put the dash cam at the back and one of these at the front. So it would not switch to rear view automatic and I would have to press a button to view what the Navall thinks is the dash-cam to get the reversing view but that don't seem like a deal breaker.

Can anyone think of a reason why this would not work?

Been a while since I looked at the video, but from what I remember it was better than a mobile phone recording. Its 1080p I think. For 20 quid I don't expect much, its just there to avoid the blame game should an accident occur.

You can turn it upside down as shown in the video, and use the menu to flip picture the right way up. That way you will have the camera on the right.

it is 720p from that seller, he is using someone else's video to sell it and seems also like you will not get the proper English instructions from him either.
