Default Garforth to Abergele - underground railway

My carefully looked after Varta E44 battery, bought just 4 years ago, has expired and as it had a 5 year guarantee, I contacted the seller to ask about a claim.

Only way was to return it and let them check it and do without the car whilst they made up their minds, or buy a new one from them then return the failed one after - hopefully for a refund or partial refund. Fine so far, until your new battery turns up and you try to arrange to send the failed one back.

It's Tanya in Abergele, north Wales.

When you try to arrange to send a battery via the usual parcel services, car batteries come under the 'Prohibited Items' list.

Long shot- Is anyone going from anywhere near Garforth, to Abergele, over the coming weeks and could drop it off there please?

I have it all safely packaged and ready to go.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

After a lengthy discussion with DHL, who delivered the new battery, they said I would have to be in some way registered as a sender of hazardous items, to be able to send it. Then back to web chat yet again, with Tanya - they said that as it was a sealed battery (it has the bungs fitted), it can then be called a 'sealed accumulator', which any of the parcel companies will accept.

What's in a name?

Giving you the run round Harry. Anything to not give you a refund. Don’t forget to ask for the carriage costs as it is not your fault the battery has gone bottoms up.

They have refunded the full cost of my purchase, of the replacement battery plus the cost of its carriage to me, though not the cost of my paying for carriage of the failed battery back to them. I'm not to bothered about that though. They have yet to email me, to say they were refunding the amount.
