Default 2017-2018 Not the best of years

Feb 2017 my partner had a bad fall and broke her collar bone and humerus, and never really fully recovered being in constant pain.

The hospital made a big blunder as they should have operated on her but never did.

She has suffered quite a bit of weight loss over the past year and the doctor and hospital have put this down to her fall.

Just before Christmas she had the camera up and down and while that what done the specialist took samples which came back clear, they then decided to send her for an ultra sound and this has shown up signs of cancer in her bile duct. She got this news on the 20th December so you can imagine what Christmas and New Year have been like.

On the 3rd of Jan she went for a CT scan and later that day she got a phone call to go back for the results on Monday 8th Jan. She is convinced that getting called back so soon it’s going to be terrible news. We can only hope and pray come Monday there will be some hope and this nightmare will go away.

Cool

Let's hope the early call back is good news. You need to be strong to help her through it all.

Thanks Bob

That’s what I am doing but it is one of the hardest things I have ever done. It makes you feel so helpless.

My Father was diagnosed with cancer in 1968 - it was an incorrect diagnosis, and he lived until 1995 (aged 80). Never give up hope! (Easier said than done I know).

Hi Malcolm

They are very encouraging words and it has came so out of the blue.

She has had blood tests and they came back clear, but we don’t know if this would show up certain things. An incorrect diagnosis would be very much welcomed.

Let’s hope for a positive outcome tomorrow. Last summer a new aneurysm was detected by an NHS ultrasound scan inside my right knee. The report said “it could be up to 5cm” and I thought that was not good enough. So I saw a vascular surgeon and told him I did not want a “could be scan”. I had an MRI scan and it said the aneurysm was 1.6mm and no surgery was needed.

It would be unfair for anyone to speculate about tomorrow, but I sincerely hope everything works out. Please keep us posted.

Thanks for those words Phil.

When Val had the cameras inserted they took three biopsies and they came back clear, her blood tests came back showing nothing sinister. Apart from weight loss she shows no sign of an illness, being fit and active walking both dogs three times a day which amounts to nearly four mile walk daily.

Hopefully I can post some positive news tomorrow.

Well....

We turned up at hospital appointment and were told, as results of Vals CT scan had not been returned they have made another appointment for next Monday.

On the plus side Val was told “No news is Good News”.
