Default 1.8T Club SE - What is the best recommended ICE upgrade

Hi folks
I have recently bought a car which following repair has a come back from the garage with no code for the blaupunkt radio cassette (i guess its not standard) I think the instrument console display displayed the station before it went to the garage but i only had the car for one day so who knows? (dont ask its a long story)
Anyway before i pay for a new code is there a simple upgrade that is worth doing?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Paul.

What is your budget for the upgrade? What functionalities are you after?

OK so budget is tight under 100 would be ideal.
I would like aux in facility and good sound quality.
Let me know what you think.

I got the code by the way. One of those car codes websites, cost 9 pounds. I works but does anyone still use cassette's?

I removed an Alpine unit from my last car and didn't fit it to the new one as it has highline. I'm surprised how often I use the tape player now

The best stereo I have ever had is the Silvercrest item I bought from Lidles for £50. It not only takes an aux connection but also has usb and sd card slots too. Now, all my music, photos and any documents are on one 4gb sd card that travels with me and just slots into the car stereo. It also means I have finaly found a use for the silly small pocket you get in jeans.

As I dont do long trips and just wanted Music... I opted for this cheap option.
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165474

and one of these from the bay 220916478286, loaded it full of albums and im good to go........ already had a portable dvd player in back for kids... and wont get rid of my tomtom for anything... and I can move it all between cars if need be.

Would love one of them all in one fantastic ones you see on here , but it would be wasted in my car.

Good luck in whatever you choose, but look around for good deals.

The Aldi one above sounds a good bet! I got a Sony 3900U (on Ebay they are around 100) very good unit and the bluetooth hands free phone feature is really good plus the streaming of music from my phone. The Aldi unit has most of the same features for less; For good hands free I guess the quality of its microphone is important; have an Aldi unit in my Rover mini and its very good!
