Default Switched live in fuse box

I have took delivery of my dashcam today, it starts and stops recording with the ignition through the ciggy lighter/12 power outlet but the MG outlets are live all the time so I have to plug it in when I start a trip and unplug it when I'm done. I plan to get a new outlet and wire it up to a fuse that is swithed in the fusebox. Could anybody tell me which is the best fuse (location in the fusebox) to wire it upto, or another solution I was thinking of is to splice into the switched live to the back of the radio which I think should be ok as the cam wont be pulling a huge current. Any ideas would be great

Grahame

I'm also interested in this because I want to use the switched live for an accessory.

I overcame this problem with a 'one into three' adapter from Maplins, which has a push/push on/off switch on the male single input end, which pushes into the cigar lighter. Once plugged in, it is only necessary to push the end once to switch on and to push again to switch off. I ran the cable around to the small cubby-hole to the right of the steering wheel, where I placed the three outlet unit, into which I plug the OB camera and my sat-nav, leaving one spare socket. I fixed the triple outlet with double sided sticky tape, after removing the small dimpled rubber mat.

I bought one of these as mine came with a USB charger connection, and spliced into the wire from, I think it was fuse F5, or was it F6, I would have to check.
