I'm so proud of my Missus !
My missus is a very quiet (well sometimes) and unassuming person. She is a nurse, well Lead Nurse or Sister to give her, her proper title and covers the Dermatology department within Crosshouse Hospital Kilmarnock .
She is the type of person who goes the extra mile to help and probably knows my own health better than me myself, as has often happened in the past. For example once while in Church on New years Day she noticed I was off colour, a few minutes before I collapsed and was taken off to hospital. I recovered after a few hours but fact is, she knew something was wrong long before I did. A few weeks back she told me she had been nominated for one of the Health Awards this year, Nurses Award to be exact and me not knowing much about it thought well done. Last night at The Corn Exchange in Edinburgh The missus and myself attended the event all nicely dressed up, dinner suit, lovely dress etc (I wore the dinner suit ). It was presented by BBC news presenter Jackie Bird and after the first half it was dinner then some entertainment. Then it came time for the nurse of the year award, I watched my missus who even at this point was quite calm while I was sitting on the edge of my seat. Then came the announcement "and the winner is", well it was one of the other two nominees Sharon McMenemy from the Mother & Baby unit at St John's Hospital Livingston so well done Sharon on your magnificent achievement and to the other 13 winners of the evening. I asked my wife are you dissapointed to which she replied "no not at all and it saves me from having to do the speech". Afterwards her Chief Executive said her achievement to be nominated was brilliant and of course she did come home with a certificate for that achievement. Well Done Mary I'm so proud of you. Jim |

Congratulations, very noble of her to be the type of person committed to her profession without the need to go out of her way to seek recognition. Bravo indeed

Well done. I am sure you are proud.. I have worked in a hospitals along side nurses, although dermatology was not in my area, but my ex wife was treated by the department and things are going well. To be nominated is a massive acheivement. Its always that extra bit of effort that makes the difference. Well done Mrs Jim Jamieson (Mary)
