My laptop offered the upgrade to Win10 and the symbol is still there in the bottom RH corner to do it, are we saying that Win10 is now worth having? Originally the opinion was wait and see how things work out. I think my laptop is a Win7 OS, which it came new with around three years ago.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

My brother loves Windows 10, but expressions here and on the Internet are not so supportive.

My laptop is a few years old but not that long ago TBH I could, and can live with it, if only it would work with XP but that cannot be done either. It is apparently locked into Vista

I give it 100% or 10 out 10
If people find it hard to accept any change (with in reason) in life, you will find it will be same with windows 10, my opinion anyway.

Hi Harry

Wait until the Windows Icon tells you upgrade is ready to install, or you may have several false starts when Windows Update says it has failed, I had about 15 of those!

Eventually a message box opened saying all downloaded and ready and it completed in about 90 mins. Everything looked the same as before and nothing was lost with NO input from me at all, brilliant why couldn't all OS upgrades over the years have been so easy?

I was pleased but reports said it was faster, it wasn't and flash items would fail and sound disappeared though it was there originally. My laptop is a 12-month old Compaq (by HP) and while I had never used it has HP Assist available, I ran this and it made several changes after which the difference was clear ......... cold start to desktop ready showing 18 programs on the task bar ready to go in just 32 seconds !!!!!

I haven't had any PC that fast since days of DOS 6.2 - I have 4GB RAM, 1 Tbyte HDD and built in graphics on what is really a low spec laptop.

Well pleased and surprised how good Windows 10 is.

I have set it going, but instead of downloading, it said it would 'reserve' a copy to download. Sounds as if the server might be inundated with people downloading, so now they just reserve until bandwidth is available.

Would be quicker on a new machine than an older one, Windows 10 collects all your files, settings, programs (software) etc., and installs like-for-like on Windows 10.

A new machine is faster because there is a lot less to transfer over.

I'll vouch for boot-up speed too - 35 seconds on mine from hitting the button to it being usable (that's 4 gig of RAM too). Perhaps not as important, but I've found that it shuts down a lot quicker too AND I haven't found any of my existing software which WON'T run. Ah - I tell a lie - Epson scan on my all in one printer works OK, but when I shut it down, it hangs and I have to do a forced closure. To be fair, that's probably Epson's fault for not updating their software - printer manufacturers aren't renowned for keeping up with changes.

I have an Epson DX6000 bought several years back, used it with Windows 7 and 8.1 now it's on Windows 10. Everything works as it should with no input from me, print, scan and copy + the necessary utility showing ink levels remaining.
