Important Info. on Epson printers
If you have an Epson printer and don't know about the built in redundancy please read on:
Most Epson printers especially those with chipped cartridges will only run until the internal counter estimates that the waste ink pad is full. Once this "limit" is reached the printer will illuminate the maintainance light and refuse to print further. Of course they want to sell you another printer because nobody is going to get the printer serviced as the cost would be more than a new one. There is a solution that is free and will enable you to use your Epson printer until it finally wears out. Download the latest version of sscserve.exe (freeware) once down loaded you can reset the counter and resume printing. It will also reset the levels in your cartridges on some models and will give you better control of your head cleaning too. Once reset your printer will resume printing normally. If you have a continuous ink system then this utility is very useful. One word of warning though the waste ink pad will eventually become full !!!! To get round this you need to find the clear plastic tube that runs from the cleaning cradle to the ink pad (on mine a R300 the pipe is behind a little square hatch in the back of the printer). Carefully ease the pipe from the bottom of the printer making sure that the pipe doesn't come off the bottom of the cleaning cradle find a piece of suitable pipe and extend it so that you can put it into an external container ( small plastic bottle or tupperware box with lid filled with layers of kitchen roll to form a pad). You then have no worries about the ink pad becoming sodden and leaking all over your desk! Enjoy Russ
