T4 is the MGR tool which all xpart garages have, and a few members.
The cheapest option is a memoscan U381 or U581, from about £40 posted... but no good unless you have OBD2, which was from 2004 (last early cars too, all facelifts) cars onwards. That will give you generic fault code reading, live data...including MAF monitoring with the latest software v4.5.

I believe the OBD requires bespoke MGR software to provide the complete dialogue. This is only available with the T4 computer kit. I've seen obsolete (pirated?) copies of the earlier versions on eBay, but without a T-box it's a waste of money.

There are lots of ready made code readers which will access some areas of the system, but they are limited to the common generic codes, not specific MGR stuff. The only way to have a comprehensive dialog is via a T4 unfortunately.

The T4 system was produced specifically for MGR service stations and was never available to the public. Almost all T4s ever made will remain in commercial use and only rarely come onto the open market. I saw one recently on eBay, but unless you're prepared to pay thousands, forget it. Commercial operators are always keen to get hold of them. A few are in private hands.

Thank you but not willing to pay thousands.

Worth asking the question though.

Having owned a U581 for a while now I thought I would attempt to upgrade over the web. Just doesn't seam to want to play.
Has anybody managed to upgrade or infact managed to get the software working on their computer?
If you have, any chance of an IDIOTS GUIDE cos i'm confused

Cheers

Tim
