CDTI Crankshaft locking tool anyone?
Does anyone have a crankshaft locking tool used for removing the crankshaft pulley that I could borrow, hire or steal (probably not steal)?
My crank pulley is shot and the local garage haven't been able to get it off and are nervous that if they apply any more force they may snap the bolt. They tried to get hold of the pulley tool but were unsuccessful as Land Rover said they couldn't supply it. I do have faith in the garage I'm using, so just think I've a particularly stubborn bolt but the clattering is so loud now I can't really use the car and if it breaks it's likely to do more damage and definitely will not being usable - so it would be a shame to have to dump the car just because there's a very tight bolt. Am prepared to travel to get one but as I'm local to East Sussex so that would be ideal to find a local member who may be able to help. many thanks |

Hi
These people list it. I enquired once before to see if they supplied these to retail, but they said only to garages. If no luck borrowing from here - might be worth a try - https://jlrequipment.service-solutio...px?SKU=303-975 Cheers Andrew |

Surely there must be a way to make one of these. If not several and sell some, anybody have a pattern for the tool or any reference drawings / photos ?

Well beyond my welding capabilities but seeing as you don't need the old pulley, can the garage try to weld a bar on its face or into the groove where the belt goes?

I have one, but am only prepared to loan it out on a personal collection/return basis- I am not going to get involved with posting/couriers etc. - I don't have the time.
Where is Beckley ? - anywhere near Cambridgeshire ? If you want to collect it, you are welcome to borrow it. Pete |

Hi Pete
Thanks for the offer - you may just be a life saver. Sadly, Beckley is nowhere near Cambridgshire (it's near Hastings in East Sussex) but I absolutely understand and agree with avoiding all the shag and hassle with posting so would travel up to cambridgeshire to collect if it may mean that my Rover doesn't need to remain on the condemned list. Can I get back in touch with you once I've spoken with my garage and suggested to them that I may be able to borrow a tool? many thanks |

Keir
That is fine - let me know what you want to do. I may be in Hampshire (Andover) this weekend if that is any help, although I think Andover is still quite a long way from Hastings. Pete |
