Default So what next?

I took one of the fleet in for test today, and picked up a couple of advisories.

So the question is do I bite the bullet and do the repairs now, and get it retested and have a clean sheet for sale, or do I do the repairs and sell it without having it retested.

Nothing too serious, the advisories were for a brake pipe which in my opinion was OK, but for the sake of a couple of hours will replace, and upper rear arms showing corrosion but not seriously weakened.

I've had it up on the ramps again on my return from the testing station, and it really is just surface rust on the arms, however for the sake of two bolts per side, do I take them off have them shotblasted and treat and paint them then refit, or stick the new XPart arms on that are gathering dust in the garage

Or alternately do I do absolutely nothing, sell it as is, or do I run it into the ground and scrap it next year.

I'm really on the fence with this one, I don't mind doing the work, but I really don't like the car particularly..........

Thoughts

My thoughts are as such, why not take the arms off shotblast them then repaint mate, I wouldn’t put it back in for a test, anyone who knows you would know that you wouldn’t sell on a dog of a motor and they would be getting a decent car, your reputation is better known than the testers mate

I would say the same Brian

We took Kermit for an MOT and got an advisory for a slightly corroded front brake pipe. Lydia was gutted as it was on for it's 6th clean sheet under our ownership.

If it brings you no pleasure get rid, just do the bare minimum to get through an MOT

I would say it depends on whether you value your reputation or not. Your reputation is strong and it's not been earned by selling other people problems.

I've never let a car go that wasnt right and I've always had to pay to get them fixed.

As above. Help it get 12 months ticket and then sell it on.

It already has 12 months MOT, these were not fails, simply advisories

I've answered my own question in the meantime, I'm heading over to use a friends two post lift tomorrow morning, if I'm not happy with it it won't be sold it's as simple as that.

If you don’t particularly like the car just get rid as it stands.

And keep the upper arms for one of the cherished ones, the difference in a sale price probably isn’t worth your time working on it.

I still have a roll of brake pipe if you decide to do it

Plenty of brake pipe Ray, and plenty of arms, I just didn't fancy lying on my back to do the job on the drive

I'll be heading south tomorrow morning to Fencehouses..........I bet you can't guess who's ramp I'm using to do the job

Brian

P.S. this is the car with not enough pedals for my liking
